# Technical profile

Filipe Galo is a Site Reliability Engineer at GoCardless in Lisbon, Portugal. He designs, automates and runs reliable cloud infrastructure on Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS and GCP.

I came to infrastructure from the support side: helpdesk, banking application support, then keeping Mercedes-Benz's e-commerce platforms healthy. Being the one called when things broke taught me what really keeps systems running, and pulled me towards SRE.

Since then I've moved an entire AWS estate from click-ops to Terraform, migrated more than 150 SaaS customers into a multi-account setup, and taken production workloads from EC2 onto Kubernetes. Today I help keep payment infrastructure on GKE reliable at GoCardless.

The work I enjoy most is the kind that makes everyone else faster: pipelines people trust, infrastructure anyone can read and change, and observability that answers questions before an incident does.

# Off the clock

Outside work I keep tinkering — usually in my garage, where ideas get investigated, tried and built.
